XAVERIAN'S CORNER Not Just for White Chicks! Gilberto Santos (H4D), Stallion Features Writer Posted Tuesday, 30-Nov-2004 9:13 AM Have you ever wondered what kind of mischief men would get into were they to have a woman's body? If so, then White Chicks is the movie for you! White Chicks is about two African-American FBI agents, Kevin (Shawn Wayans) and Marcus (Marlon Wayans), who need to redeem themselves because of their past work-related screw ups. To gain the respect of their boss and their colleagues they have to pose as two Caucasian women who are in danger of being kidnapped. Throughout their assignment, the FBI agents encounter everyday issues that an ordinary blonde girl would face, such as deciding which designer label to sport, choosing whom to date (especially if you're both guys!), and dealing with the unwritten laws of the socialite world.
We… I mean our boyfriends, work for the FBI.
On the downside, though, the story seems to have something missing: a healthy dose of up-and-down emotions that would stay even after one leaves the cinemas. Furthermore, it is a bit too shallow, not to mention that the conflict was resolved too easily—the twist, if any, was neither powerful nor surprising enough. White Chicks is not exactly a family film with all those quotable quotes to live by and eclectic lessons—the only things one learns are some samples of blonde-girl lingo here and there! Thus, if you are just looking for a no-brainer, fun experience with your barkada , then White Chicks is the perfect movie for you. I'll rate it a 4/5 for being way funnier than I expected it to be! Just don't be bugged by the exaggerated laughter some guys at the back of the cinema will explode into every ten seconds! |
