Days before the Sagip
Pasko activity, I had been asking for my Mom’s permission, but I did not
push the topic because I knew I had a lot of activities all lined up for
After doing all of my Saturday activities, I was starting to feel uneasy
about missing the service activity. Since I needed to buy some stuff for
a project in Science and Math, we decided to proceed to Shangri-la Mall.
My Mom knew how I felt so she allowed me to go and check the Sagip Pasko
We went straight to Rustan’s and saw people
from Xavier trying their best to solicit donations from shoppers around
the mall. Seeing my classmates and teachers inspired me. Whatever time
there was left, I gave my best in soliciting as much donation as possible
for the victims in Quezon.
I started by giving leaflets to people and explaining to them what we
were doing. Although some would not even try to listen, it was not at
all frustrating because there were more who were kind enough to listen
I got my aunt to donate money and together with some boys and Miss Garcia,
we went to buy goods in the store. We called it a day at 6PM.
it all, the experience was interesting Aside from that, it gave me a “high”
that I could not explain. I remembered what my Mom was telling me about:
that one always feels “high” when he does something good for others. I
did not understand it then, but after the experience, I now know exactly
how if feels.
I hope I can do a lot more for others not just this season but throughout
the whole year.
