One of the many events that took place during this year’s Wish Christmas Bazaar was a band competition organized by the High School Student Council entitled “Season of RoXs” held at the upper football field of Xavier School .

Each of the eight participating bands from either Xavier School or the Immaculate Conception Academy was given the chance to perform three songs of their choice to listeners sitting on plastic mats and to a standing audience cheering for their favorites before the stage.

The program was hosted by Ms. Micah Munoz, Mr. Mickey Deles and Ms. Roxanne Barcelo, while Mr. Sonny Nicolas, Ms. Yolly Celdran and Mr. Kenneth Salvatus served as the judges for the band competition.

The band Perch, consisting of Xaverians Julian Sese, Ferdinand Co, Ian Tee, Perth Salva and Irvin Sta. Maria, won the grand prize of ten thousand pesos with their version of the Stone Temple Pilots’ “Plush,” the Red Hot Chili Peppers’s “Soul to Squeeze,” and their very own “Killer Eyes.”

Second-placer Not Applicable won six thousand pesos with their rendition of Audiovent’s “The Energy,” Jimmy Eat World’s “Pain,” and their own “Speed Limit,” while Sick Chase Syndrome came third and won three thousand pesos with the Lost Prophet’s “Goodbye Tonight,” Original’s “Hero at Night,” and Urban Dub’s “Soul Searching.”

The other participants of the band competition were Mortifera, The Anathemae and Five Point Cross from Xavier, AxD from the Immaculate Conception Academy, and Bittersweet Providence composed of both ICAns and Xaverians.

Ms. Roxanne Barcelo performed an intermission number, and at the same time promoted her debut album, “Roxie,” while Sponge Cola ended the show with four pieces, with the help of The Mongols’ guitarist, Mr. Yan Yuzon.
