Xavier Wood Pushers Finish Fourth

      Xavier School finished fourth place in the just concluded Colegio San Agustin (CSA) Blitz Chess Open which was held from November 20 to December 18, 2004.

     Xavier finished with 4.5 points to share fourth and fifth place with Ateneo Team A. The Xavier team, handled by Mr. John Sy and trained by Mr. Bobby Bautista, is composed of Joaquin Ang H4H, Jeffrey Go H1D, William Lim H1G, Matthew Ang H4H, Jason Tan H2D and Allen Sy H4F.

      First place went to La Immaculada Concepcion School (LICS) Boys Team A with 5.5 points. Tied for second and third were LICS Boys Team B and Southridge School with 5 points apiece.

      There were a total of 14 teams with 9 schools represented. These schools were Xavier School, LICS Boys Teams A and B, LICS Girls Teams A and B, Ateneo Teams A and B, Don Bosco Technological Institute Teams A and B, Don Bosco Technological College, La Salle Greenhills, International School, Southridge School, and host Colegio San Agustin.

      This strong performance was only the second in the events participated by the team this year following their success in the PAYA Tournament last November, 2004.
