Extending our Hands: Xavier Scholarship Talk

      Last February 26, 2005, Saturday, representatives of Xavier School went to downtown Binondo to provide information about ourscholarship program to Chinese-Filipino families who are interested to enroll their sons in Xavier School but cannot afford it.

      The talk is in line with our Fr. Jean Desautels Golden Choice Scholarship Program, one of our pillar projects for the forthcoming Xavier School Golden Jubilee celebration.

      The program was held at the Federation Center Building , Muello de Binondo, Manila City from 9:30 am to 11:00 am .

      No less than Mr. Francis Chua, Executive Vice-President of the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Inc., welcomed the representatives of Xavier School and appreciated our efforts.  Then, Fr. Zuloaga, Head of the Xavier School Alumni Relations Office, explained to the participants the rationale behind the said affair.

      Fr. Zuloaga highlighted the fact that although Xavier School has been granting scholarship to qualified young boys since 1966, this is the first time Xavier School is working with the help of the Federation in further expanding the school’s mission to our less fortunate Chinese-Filipino brothers .  This would undeniably correct the impression that Xavier School is only for the elite.

       Fr. Zuloaga's talk was followed by a short forum with the participants. Our school representatives led this very organized yet simple forum.  They provided the families with brochures and other necessary information that they would need to apply for the scholarship.  The participants asked questions and our representatives respectfully and clearly answered them.

      Indeed, this scholarship talk is the beginning of the school’s extensive renewal of its mission to provide quality education to qualified young boys notwithstanding their financial situation.  This also proves that the quality of education that Xavier School has been known for is beyond doubt for everyone!
