Xavier Bowls for Charity

Last February 23, 2005, the E-Lanes Bowling Center was once again filled with bowling enthusiasts from the Xavier community for the 2nd Xavier Charity Bowl.
Like last year, the proceeds of the project went to the Xavier School Educational and Trust Fund, The Golden Choice.
Although the format of the games remained the same, the organizers thought that it would be better if each team will be composed of two students (HS or GS) and a guest who can be a teacher, an alumnus, a parent, or even a friend. True enough, the spirit of community became very evident in the high spirited games during the event.
A short program hosted by Luis Locsin and Casey Lim opened the event. It began with an opening prayer led by Timothy Ocampo-Tan (H3C), Xavier varsity bowler and Charity Bowl project head. This was followed by the singing of the National anthem which was led by newly elected Sophomores Representative, Elijah Adamos.
After a short welcoming address from the Xavier Bowling team coach, Ms. Aimee Apolinario, the participants and spectators were invited to witness the ceremonial roll which was executed by Xavier Bowling team captain, Casey Yu (H4B), HS FACAMPA president, Mr. Jonathan Lacson (English Department), and SC president, Carlos Locsin (H4B).
Right after the ceremony, the 22 participating teams proceeded to their respective lanes to commence the three-game tournament.
Through out the games, the energy of both players and spectators were kept at a high level as cheers did not die down even until the last team was finishing off its final game.
The success of the 2nd Xavier Charity Bowl proved that charity isn't always about giving coins to a beggar or donating old clothes to the poor; it can also be given even in the midst of fun.
