Last July 15, 2006, the HS Principal’s Office was peculiarly
closed for the entire morning. This seemed odd for some, since Saturdays
are as busy as the weekdays because of the
Despite the impending rains that morning, the entire Principal’s Team and their staff gathered in the EED playground and shared a sumptuous potluck breakfast. Aside from being a bonding moment for the HSPO, this also served as a venue for their little bundles of joy to mingle and to explore the grounds for more fun.
Unknown to many, our Principal, Mrs. Jane Cacacho is a mother
of two – the prim and proper Marian, and the ever-energetic Maximus, or
as he is fondly called, Mutmut. Ms. Jane's husband, Kleng also joined
the group to enjoy the day. Our calm and composed Assistant Principal
for Formation, Mr. Michael delos Reyes, on the one hand, is the pillar
of a beautiful family of six – his charming wife, Pinky, and
his three lovely children Nadine, Franco, and Inigo.
In addition, ladies of the HSPO came with their “kids.” Ms. Tess Elizalde and Ms. Rina Beredo were brought along their nephews while Ms. Czarina Tambago came with her brother and her niece. Meanwhile, Mrs. Sarah Cabanos was joined by her husband Mon of the HS Campus Ministry Office.
Short games were also prepared to make the entire morning more exciting and fruitful. And who could better tell the fun of that rainy morning, other than the kids who truly enjoyed the day running around the playground and playing along with each other. At the end of the activity, each child received a small memento from Ms. Aimee, to remind them of the new friends they will add up to their list.
The half-day fun with their families allowed the members
of the HSPO to take some time off
Finally, this only proved that despite the stance our administrators and staff have to carry on a regular day, and the rigors of having to come up with various decisions for the sake of the entire XSHS community, they too are like any ordinary parents, wife, husband, aunts and friends who need a family to cling on to and to complete their day. As the Desmund Tutu puts it, “You don't choose your family. They are God's gift to you, as you are to them.”
