Getting to Know the MLAs

     This school year, four new faces join the line up of Middle Level Administrators in the High School Unit.  Each of them was given a simple questionnaire to fill out. 

     Get to know them a little through the information they gave, but make sure to get to know them more during the school year.

 

 

Ms. Jessie Ang - Assistant to the Chinese Department Chairperson for Administrative Concerns

(Location:  Integrated Chinese Department Workroom - 2nd Floor JR Building)

What was your first reaction when this position was offered to you?

I was surprised at first because I thought Fr. Johnny was going to talk to me about something else.

Give three words to describe the kind of administrator that you are.

passionate (about my work), flexible, and approachable

What do you consider as the most challenging part of your work?

The fact that the Chinese Department has been institutionalized is a big challenge in itself because the extent that I have to attend to, making sure that the department runs smoothly.

What is your greatest dream for your department?

My greatest dream for the department is for the teachers to work together as one to achieve our goal of improving oral proficiency of students in Mandarin.

What message do you wish to impart to our students?

My dear students, learn to love the subject, prove to others that you can speak Mandarin…The talent is just there waiting for you to develop and use.  Have a positive attitude toward learning Chinese.  Remember, China is becoming a superpower.  Do you want to be in or out?

What was your first reaction when this position was offered to you?

Reluctant

Give three words to describe the kind of administrator that you are.

Driven, focused, compassionate

What do you consider as the most challenging part of your work?

Form and transform people

What is your greatest dream for your department?

90% of students can analyze, solve routine and non-routine problems.  In short, Xaverians can become great thinkers.

What message do you wish to impart to our students?

Be a great thinker:  Learn and love Math.

 

 

Ms. Hazel Wong – Assistant to the Chinese Department Chairperson for Academic Concerns

What was your first reaction when this position was offered to you?

Hesitant

Give three words to describe the kind of administrator that you are.

Fair, detailed, firm

What do you consider as the most challenging part of your work?

Making changes and letting them accept it

What is your greatest dream for your department?

Teachers to be more inspired engaged and passionate towards teaching Chinese

What message do you wish to impart to our students?

Learning Chinese is fun and interesting.  Give it a chance!
