An X-Pat's Visit to El Nido

David Lim, XS '70

Posted Friday, 15-Dec-2006 10:03 AM

Mr. David Lim (Batch '70) was the lucky X-Pat from LA who won the free trip to the Philippines sponsored by the AAXS. This was an incentive for the overseas alumni to attend the meetings and organize themselves into chapters. The trip included a vacation at the El Nido Resort.

Our stay at El Nido turned out very well. Chery and I have been there before so this time was a repeat. The only bad experience on the whole trip was the baggage allocation is just rediculously discouraging to divers. The weight limit for each passenger is 15 kilos including hand carry. This is just enough for change of clothes and neccesities. Each kilo over is $3. This place is only for honeymooners not divers. We did spend two days diving. The place is great for begginer divers with no undercurrent. There are loads of fishes and corals to see. Still a diving paradise. The service at both Lagen and Miniloc were excellent. I have always told my friends, El Nido is always at the top of our list of resorts in the world. This is comparing vs Great Barrier Reef, Galapagos, Carribean etc. The service is next to none. The people were very attentive to our every need. This goes for everyone. From the kitchen, the cleaners, the dive shop people, and all.

Congratulations to the management for a well trained crew. The food was excellent for the price. The location is not only a great resort but there are so many things to do while at EL NIDO. This is definitely a place I will always refer to friends and relatives.
