As dawn was breaking, the intrepid organizers from the XSPA, headed by Peter Gaw, prepared to receive the hundreds of parents, students, faculty and staff who came for the annual Family Fun Run. Over 600 participants registered for the Jubilee edition and close to 500 actually made it at the starting line.
The event began with the Oath of Sportsmanship and warm up calisthenics conducted by the staff of Xavier Fitness Center (Gold’s Gym). The actual race started around 6:30 and was over in about an hour. It was good thing too as the torch relay runners finished early and were chafing to enter the school grounds.
As expected the top ten was dominated by the High School runners, with Goodyield Chu of H4 topping the race. Coming in second was alumnus, Jaime Miguel Leogardo and third was H3 student, Mark Alvin Keng.
The race was sponsored by Gatorade and Absolute which provided the runners with drinks and race shirts.
