AAXS Southern California Chapter Invocation

     Invocation during the Overseas Alumni Chapter Reunion in Los Angeles last December 03, 2006 in Celebration of the Golden Jubilee.

     Heavenly Father, you have gathered us all here tonight, to be one with the rest of the Xaverian family throughout the world. We want to celebrate this Golden Jubilee of our alma mater, as one heart one soul. The months of planning on the part of the organizers have paid off. It has culminated in this heartfelt response of the alumni present here with their families. Thank you for leading all of us here safely. Bless the food prepared for us to partake.  Thank you for the fellowship, fun, music, the memories we reminisce and the memories that we will bring from this celebration. You clearly have a message for us, let us hear it. May each one be very open to the Holy Spirit as He sets us on fire and enthusiasm to live courageously our Xaverian motto: LUCEAT LUX! LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE.  You have scattered us to the four corners of the world after molding us into what we are now. The Xaverian formation and education envisioned men “fully alive and endowed with a passion for justice and the skills for development”. We pray and hope this vision is a living reality in each one of us. Help us, St Francis Xavier, to endeavor much more to live fully the demand put on us by this vision. With the words of the novena prayer composed just for this Golden Jubilee celebration let us all say,

     Thank you, Lord, for the gift of Saint Francis Xavier and Xavier School.

Grant that we all remain true to the values we've been taught to hold most dear.

     Open our eyes that we may see You and find You in all things.

Touch our hearts that we may love You in every person we meet.

Guide our hands that we may serve You by sharing

 the best of ourselves with others.

     We pray that You ignite our community so that we may reach out

to those in need and make a real difference in their lives."

     May this gathering be the beginning of a more committed and responsive Xavier School Alumni Association in Southern California. Amen.
