HIGHLIGHTS

Veneration of Ancestors
Ms. Aimee Apolinario, HS Web Editor

Posted Friday, 17-Nov-2006 3:01 PM

A mass in remembrance of ancestors was held at the High School gym last November 8, 2006. In a special way, the mass was offered to Xavier’s “other” patron, Paul Hsu Kuang Chi, who died on the same day in 1633. The mass was presided over by Fr. Robert Rivera, S.J. and was concelebrated by Fr. Guy Guibelondo S.J., Campus Minister.

After the homily, the Catholic Rite of Ancestor Veneration took place. The presider along with representatives from the HS community lighted incense at the altar. A gong was stuck thrice to signal the community to signify their veneration by bowing after each sound.

Before the final blessing was bestowed upon the community, Mrs. Jane Cacacho, the HS Principal, imparted a few words of thanks to the organizers of the mass and welcomed Fr. Robert who has currently joined the Jesuits residing in campus.
