XAVERIAN'S CORNER

Speak Out, Be Heard:  The SC-Stallion Freedom Wall
Theodore Efann (H4C), Stallion Features Editor

Posted Friday, 17-Nov-2006 9:23 AM

Pens vigorously scribbled, coins bountifully jingled and people joyously grinned at the prospect of nearly unrestricted freedom as the Xavier community dressed the first ever SC-Stallion Freedom Wall outside the High School Canteen. As Stallion’s contribution to the Student Council’s Project DOTA, the Freedom Wall was conceptualized to raise funds for the victims of the infamous typhoon Milenyo and to promote Stallion’s campaign for students to speak out and be heard.

The dedication sheets were priced at 5, 10 and 20 pesos depending on size. Students and teachers flocked to the wall to scribble their messages and within a week, the formerly blank wall was transformed into a mosaic of dedications and quotes. At the end of the project, a total of 2100 pesos was added to Project DOTA’s relief fund.
