HS-LRC Launches Wanna Bee Contest
Mrs. Ruth O. de Luna, HS-LRC Chairperson

Posted Saturday, 25-Nov-2006 10:12 AM

One of the roles and functions of the Learning Resource Center is to help teachers educate students by providing books and other learning materials related to the expressed and anticipated requirements of all departments.

In this light, the HS-Learning Resource Center launched the Wanna Bee Contest last week. This activity aims to help the boys reinforce their learning in the classroom. Moreover, through this contest, the LRC hopes to provide a caring environment wherein students learn self-esteem, awareness and independence. Lastly, this gives the opportunities to students to become familiar with library resources.

The contest is named as such since the questions and other related information to a particular topic is posted in the different places within the LRC area. Thus, they will have to be like busy bees hopping from one place to another in the library.

Wanna Bee questions will be taken from the current lessons in the different subject areas for each year level. Here are the mechanics of the contest:

  1. One question per year level will be posted daily.
  2. Answers to the contest question will be submitted to any of the LRC personnel.
  3. There will only be one winner for each question per year level. In case of many correct entries, a representative of the department will randomly draw the winner.
  4. Monthly winners will be given a certificate of recognition during the first general assembly of the month.

The LRC encourages all high school students to join this contest. Many interesting and informative questions have been carefully chosen, constructed and evaluated by the subject teachers with the goal of allowing the students to learn from this activity.
