HIGHLIGHTS Building an Ignatian Curriculum Ms. Aimee Apolinario, HS Assistant Principal for Academics Posted Saturday, 25-Nov-2006 10:07 AM
November 16, 2006 marked another busy day for the school’s
academic and formation administrators. As follow up to the assessment
workshop held last August, this workshop aptly called “Building an Ignatian
Curriculum” provided the opportunity for the participants to devote time
to the curriculum reform. Thus, for a second time this school year, the
Grade School and
Fr. Johnny Go, S.J. began the first session by presenting a diagram that illustrates how the projected curriculum should look like. This representation aligned all the efforts being made by the administrators since the start of the Curriculum Reform Process. Moreover, the school director used Ignatian Spirituality as springboard to further illustrate the Ignatian Approach to Teaching. Furthermore, he tied up everyone's Understanding by Design (UbD) efforts to the whole process.
After the input, the administrators were asked to work in
smaller groups. The two discussion sessions that lasted until the afternoon
focused on two tasks: formulating academic/formation
Just before the group traveled back to Xavier School, a brief plenary session was held so that the groups may share some of the important points they have discussed in their articulation. Then, after a brief wrap up by Fr. Go, the group set out to leave for home.
Now, the academic and formation teams of Xavier are stepping on the gas as everyone and everything moves forward in the Curriculum Reform Process.
