The Xavier School women’s faculty team closed the first round of the Faculty and Staff Athletics Association of Private Schools (FASAAPS) women’s volleyball with a victory over Don Bosco Mandaluyong last November 8, 2006.
The team’s first two games were held at the Don Bosco Makati Gym and in its opening game last Ocotober 11, the Xavier lady spikers lost to Don Bosco Makati as two of Xavier’s players, along with Coach Mark Yap got caught in a traffic jam in EDSA and arrived at the venue right into the second set of the best-of-three game.
In the second game against La Salle Greenhills last October 18, Xavier came back with a vengeance and grabbed two straight sets to bring home the victory.
The third and final game for the first round was held at the Xavier gym. Despite missing the services of tosser and former team captain, Ms. Rachelle de Vera, the team came prepared for the game against Don Bosco Mandaluyong. Once again, strong attacks and accurate service led the team to bag two straight sets, 25-18 and 25-15.
As the team prepares for the second round of the tournament, let us cheer them on and wish them the best of luck. Luceat Lux!
