HIGHLIGHTS Grade Three First Holy Communion Jessica Carol M. Sucgang, Grade 3 English Teacher
September 23 and October 7 were very memorable days for the Grade Three boys because they finally received Jesus in the form of the Bread of Life. Mary the Queen Church was filled with parents, relatives, friends, and teachers to witness the First Holy Communion of their loved The First Holy Communion day was the culmination of months of preparation of the Grade Three students with the help of their CLE teachers, Music teacher, class advisers, and class mentors. The Eucharistic Mass was even made more significant by the active participation of the students themselves during the Mass Readings and singing of the communion songs. The communicants looked really proud and happy as they walked down the aisle with their parents on their way to receive communion for the first time. During the homily, the parents were reminded to help their children keep Jesus in their hearts by bringing them to Mass regularly.
Although the First Holy Communion is a joyful event in the lives of the students, parents were seen shedding tears when they read the letters their sons have written for them during the Recollection last September. It was truly a poignant moment, seeing mothers and fathers smiling and crying at the same time while reading their sons’ letters of gratitude for their love, patience, and hard work. The communicants personally handed their souvenir boxes and letters to their parents while Taylor Hicks’s “Do I Make You Proud?” song being played in the background. The smiles and tears conveyed a lot… “I’m proud of you son.”
