HIGHLIGHTS

Blessing of the Newly Renovated HS Facilities
Mrs. Ruth de Luna, HS-LRC Chairperson

Posted Saturday, 16-Sep-2006 11:38 AM

September 8, 2006 was a special day for Xavier School. Aside from being Mama Mary’s birthday, it was also the day when the different renovated facilities in the High School were blessed.

Before the actual blessing of facilities, a midday Friday mass was first celebrated by our School Director, Fr. Johnny C. Go, S.J. The mass was offered not only for the blessing of the renovated facilities but also to commemorate the Nativity of the Virgin Mary.

The mass was sponsored by H2A and H3A, whose attendance along with that of the faculty and staff from the different units of the school, made the celebration more meaningful.

Fr. Go and Bro Terence Ang, S.J. led two groups of faculty and staff during the blessing of facilities. Fr. Go began at the Sacred Heart Garden , where the final blessing for the mass was also given. He then proceeded to bless the now covered tennis court on his way to the HS Workroom and the HS Principal’s Office where representatives read a prayer before the sprinkling of water. Furthermore, Fr. Go also blessed the Chinese Faculty Workroom, the Student Activities Center, and the Learning Resource Center, all located at the Jesuit Residence Building.

Bro. Terrence on the other hand blessed the renovated offices of the Team Leaders, Student Supervisors, and Guidance Counselors, as well as the new meeting rooms, the Audio Visual Section, and the computer laboratories.

All the renovations were under the supervision of Architect Benino de Ocampo.

After the blessing, the two groups converged at the Student Council room where snacks were served.

Thanks to the efforts of Mrs. Ruth de Luna, Mrs. Fides Abad, Ms. Tess Elizalde, Mr. Emmanuel Santos, Ms. Hazel Wong, Mr. Ivan Gabriana, and Ms. Sarah Mendoza, the event, although kept simple, proved to be a meaningful one for the Xavier Community.
