XAVERIAN'S
CORNER
Last Wednesday, September 6, 2006, six students from Xavier, along with their coach, Mr. Eugene Quijano (HS Science), attended a science competition called BioLOGIC 2006 which was held at the University of the Philippines.
Xavier School ’s Team A, comprising Melvin
See of High 2C and Neell Young of High 3A garnered second place during
this fierce competition. Melvin See was also awarded for being one of the students who scored the highest during the written elimination round.
About 64 teams, representing 25 schools, participated in this competition and only 10 teams, representing five schools, entered the semi-final round. These schools were Miriam College, Manila Science High School, St. Stephen’s High School, Jubilee Christian Academy and Xavier School. In the final round, it was a clash among Jubilee Christian Academy, Manila Science High School, and Xavier School.
Along with the honor of second place came a cash prize of three thousand pesos which was divided equally among contestants. Although not all of Xavier's representatives got into the finals, their efforts were not in vain, as they acquired new knowledge on the broad topic of Biology. This is achievement has once again given the Xaverians to let their light shine!
