Xavier Offers Music Courses

As Xavier continues to exert effort at offering the best programs for your sons, we have recently tied up with ROS Music Center in developing music related courses for this school year. Aside from purchasing musical instruments for students’ use, we are also opening two Music courses this school year. The two courses being offered to Xavier students (Grade 5 to High 4) are as follows:
Symphonic Band |
Php3000 – 10 one and a half hour sessions |
Time: 4:00 to 5:30 PM (every Friday) |
Venue: Sports Center Mezzanine |
Inclusive Dates:
September 22 and 29, October 6 and 13, November 10 and 24 |
Course Description: The Symphonic Band is geared towards the development of Woodwind players namely: Flute, Clarinet, Bassoon and Oboe, and Brass wind players namely: French Horn, Tuba, Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, and Euphonium. In addition, the symphonic band will develop percussion players to use the following: Bass drum, snare drum, xylophone, and other percussive ornaments. The performance of classical symphonic music and pop symphonic music will be the main activity of the organization. The joy of performing the music of the masters such as John Williams of Superman fame or the famous Graduation March of Edward Elgar will be the experience of the boys chosen to be in the group.

Course Description: This Chinese Orchestra course offers the opportunity to get to know Chinese traditional music. Moreover, students will be taught to play indigenous Chinese instruments like the Gu (similar to a harp), Di (Chinese bamboo flute, and San Sien (Similar to a mandolin). At the end of the course, students will be able to learn how to read notes, play songs, and appreciate Chinese music. |
We hope that you will take this opportunity to tap or to enhance your sons’ musical interest and talent. Enrollment for the music courses in the After-School Program begins on September 18, 2006.
