Prep Boys of Batch 2006 – 2007 Made Everyone Proud

Posted Friday, 20-Apr-2007 9:25 AM

As the Prep boys of SY 2006 – 2007 bid farewell to their EED days, they did so “With Grateful Hearts;” which was this year’s theme of the Culminating Program. Not only did the boys say thank you to their parents, teachers and friends with the different presentations that they had worked and practiced so hard on for the past couple of months, each number was also a tribute to St. Francis Xavier to honor our Jubilee year. A video highlighting the special activities that were participated in by the boys during the school year started off the program, followed by a speech by our school director Fr. Johnny Go S.J., who congratulated the boys for a fruitful year and welcomed them as soon to be Grade 1 boys.

The first number was the prayer Joyful, Joyful which had set the mood and was sung with accompanying sign language and dance moves. The program then moved to the beat of Russian Dance and Under the Sea presentations done with musical instruments that the group played with gusto with matching fish and bubbles in the background. Next in line, was the chorale presentation of The Blind Men and the Elephant wherein the boys amazed the spectators with how well they were able to recite their lines with perfect pitch and intonation. As the program moved steadily, linking each one to the path that St. Francis took in order to spread God’s message to others around the world, where would it move next?  Well, no other than our very own country, the Philippines! The guests where treated to a sample of how our boys could understand and speak not only English and Chinese, but they can also sing and dance in Filipino; their steps seemed like modern ethnic gestures as they sang Kapayapaan with gusto.

Everyone was also reminded that most of these boys were born in the Year of the Dragon when the Chinese group showed their hip hop moves to the tune of Descendants of the Dragon, a modern song fittingly apt to a batch that shows great promise into becoming like the majestic creature. As the program drew to a close, we cannot but help ourselves but include at least one number from the hit movie High School Musical. The dance number We’re All in this Together bore the message that with everyone’s help, anything can be achieved, so much so that it also reflects the mission of the Society of Jesus.

After all the numbers had been presented, Mrs. Jane Natividad, our Grade School Principal, addressed not only the parents, but more importantly, the boys, as she talked about the steps that they had already taken and were still to undergo as Xaverians and being men for others.

To top everything off, the boys ended with the closing song, Do I Make You Proud? which deeply touched the hearts of everyone. To the Prep boys of batch 2006-2007… Yes indeed, you all make us proud!!!
