February 17, 2007 marked an auspicious day in the history of Xavier
School. A 15-hectare property in Canlubang, Laguna was formally donated to the school by Aurora Properties, Inc., a joint venture between Ayala Land, Inc., and the Yulo Family. Before the end of five years, Xavier School South is expected to open, a Jesuit co-ed school where 25% of the student population will be made up of scholars.
Over 150 people from the Xavier community traveled to Canlubang on this sunny and windy morning to witness the event. The deed of donation was signed by Jaime Ayala, (President) and Vincent Tan (Director) of Ayala Land. It was acknowledged by Fr. Johnny Go (President) and Fr. Ismael Zuloaga (Chairman) of Xavier School. Mr. Jose Yulo, Jr. represented the Yulo Family during the signing ceremony.
Fr. Art Borja and Fr. Maximo Barbero blessed the site, the perimeter
of which was colorfully adorned with flags of Xavier's blue & gold. This was followed by a performance by our very own Xavier Dragon & Lion Dance Troupe.
The day's event was capped by a delicious Chinese food buffet lunch at the Sta. Elena Golf & Country Club. Xavier took the occasion to thank its many benefactors, especially those who made the Golden Choice Scholarship Fund campaign of our founder, Fr. Jean Desautels, a resounding success. Included in the program was the XSETF report and a thank you message on behalf of all GIA scholars given by a senior, Englebert Chua.
The Golden Jubilee provided everyone in the Xavier community with an opportunity to look back at our roots with thanksgiving in our hearts. Xavier South, on the other hand, gives the entire Xavier community something to look forward to with great hope for the future. Luceat Lux!
