Yes, they did it again. The Xavier varsity team made up of the youngest athletes in school has added another feather on their caps when it captured the Rizal Football Association(RIFA) Cup plum.
The RIFA CUP, participated in by more than 90 teams across 12 categories, was held last January 27 & 28, 2007 at the Colegio San Agustin Football Fields in Dasmariñas Village, Makati City. Aside from RIFA member schools, there were several teams from outside Metro Manila including Sacred Heart School for Boys in Cebu City.
Already having the Champions trophy in the 2006 2G0 Youth Football Festival, the 11 th Alaska Cup and the Xavier Cup, our Midgets G/H team scored a grand slam this school year by seizing the RIFA Cup championship. These four tournaments are the leading football festivals held yearly in Metro Manila.
Incidentally, the same team also won the Midgets G category of the RIFA Cumulative Festival last October. They remain the favorites in the Midgets H category and will see final action on February 17.
Coach Rey Ritaga’s boys in the Midgets G and H teams train together and all members deserve to be recognized. The players are:
