Xavier’s Youngest Athletes Shine Brightest!

     A Xavier varsity team made up of the youngest athletes in school has been the most consistently performing team this current school year. As of this date, the Midgets G/H Football team, composed of Prep and Grade 1 students, is the team that has brought home the most number of championship titles. The 6 years old-and-under team competed in three different 1-day football festivals and in one 4-day inter-school cumulative festival. In these tournaments, teams play 7-a-side against at least 5-6 other teams in one day. 

     The following are the titles our Midgets G/H team had tucked under their belts:

1. Players 6 Champion in the 2006 Aboitiz-2Go Youth Football Festival held last 24 September at the Alabang Country Club
2. Boys 6 Champion in the 11th Alaska Cup Football festival held 11 November also at the Alabang Country Club
3. Class G Champion in the 8th Xavier Cup Football Festival last 9 December
4. Midgets G Champion in the Rizal Football Association(RIFA) Cumulative Festivals held on 9 September, 23 September, 7 October and the finals on 21 October

     Coach Rey Ritaga’s boys in the Midgets G and H teams train together and all members deserve to be recognized. The players are:

     The team is gearing for the upcoming RIFA Cup and the RIFA Midgets H Cumulative Festivals which will wind up the school year’s season. Hopefully, they will add more feathers to their caps.
