HIGHLIGHTS
In simple ceremonies last Friday, March 2, the specially commissioned bust of Fr. Jean Desautels, SJ was unveiled and blessed on the same day as the Founder’s birthday. Fr. Johnny Go welcomed the special guests, including members of the Cua Family that included the patriarch Santiago Cua and sons Santiago, Jr. and Solomon. He explained that the wall created to showcase the bust will become the Mission Wall, in recognition of the other “founders” of the school, all of whom have contributed in pursuing the mission and vision of Xavier School. Fr. Zuloaga acknowledged the generous contribution of the Cua Family, who donated the bust as their way of honoring memory of Fr. Desautels who had been a close friend of the family since the days in Echague. Santiago, Jr. gave the response on behalf of the family. Robin Tong, who coordinated the bust project, highlighted the illustrious career of the sculptor, National Artist Dean Napoleon Abueva, who attended together with his wife. The program ended with the blessing rites officiated by Fr. Art. Borja.
