Letting Their Light Shine In Singapore

      The School Director flew to Singapore recently and among his goals was to meet the Xaverians in the Lion City.

      And so, last 02 November 2005, Fr. Johnny Go found himself with a small group of Xaverians in Starbucks, of all places, at Raffles City Mall , Singapore. It was a hastily organized informal gathering made possible by Ivan Tan Tsoi, one of scholars at Raffles Institute (RI). When Fr. Go received an email from Ivan a few days before his flight, he immediately requested Ivan to get the other students together for a chat. Fr. Go was happy to see that despite the last minute plans, the following turned up: Ivan Tan Tsoi (`06), John Christopher Go (`06), Arion Blas (`04), Danson Garcia (`07), and Almerick Tantuco So (`07), who is now a college student. Later, a group of Xavier alumni dropped by to say “hello.” Among them were Jervin Yang and Andre Chauco, who are both studying at Singapore Management University (SMU), as well as those visiting from Manila.

      Fr. Go treated the group to coffee and pastries, and encouraged them to share their stories about their lives in Singapore. They compared their schools with Xavier School, and Fr. Go listened attentively to them as they shared the best practices in their schools.

      As they said goodbye, Fr. Go distributed Golden Jubilee desk calendars and stickers to them, and then they posed for the usual pictures before they parted. Fr. Go returned to Xavier School telling everyone how proud he was of the Xaverians in Singapore.
