"Follow only one rule:

Be yourself. The best boy-girl relationships

are based on who people really are,

not on who they pretend to be.”

Last October 27, 2005, after the stressful second quarterly tests, the sophomores of Xavier School had their annual interaction day, and this year it was with the sophomores of Miriam High School.

The event provided the students from both schools an opportunity to mingle with each other through exciting games and programs. This interaction was intended to address the formative needs of Xavier and Miriam sophomores in terms of establishing healthy relationships with members of the opposite sex.

At exactly 8 in the morning, buses left Xavier School and arrived at Miriam High School in just half an hour. Xavier students were warmly welcomed by Miriam students and faculty as soon as the boys alighted the buses and walked towards the Miriam school’s gym, where Mrs. Maria Corazon Reyes, Miriam's Principal, delivered a speech to formally start the program.

The boys and girls were classified into groups named after different colors. Each group went to its assigned classroom where the facilitator for each group led the participants into a series of exciting games. These help the participants to better know each other. The participants surely enjoyed the bonding they had with their small group. They also had the chance to eat merienda and lunch together.

After lunch, the participants went back to the gym to watch stimulating performances prepared by selected students from both schools. Miriam students showed their talent in dancing while a band consisting of Xaverians played a couple of songs for the girls.

The program ended with a talk about major issues on teen and sexuality. The talk was entitled Youth Talk: A Mature Understanding of Sexuality and Relationship. Truly, the students were really into the topic because they kept on asking lots of smart and innocent questions to the lecturer.

We hope that this interaction would help our Xavier boys develop into more mature individuals and gentlemen as they become more aware of the differences between them and the opposite sex. Through this interaction, may they learn the ways to value and respect not only the young ladies from Miriam, but women in general.
