ATHLETICS Xavier Bowlers Introduce Selves in Style Mr. Sharwin Tee, Bowling Coach Posted Thursday, 27-Oct-2005 11:17 AM
It was a classic case of mistaken identity.
When the Xavier Bowling Team arrived in Cebu for the 1 st Governor Gwen Garcia Philippines Taiwan Bowling Open last October 7, the organizers thought our very own Xavier Bowling Team was from Xavier University of Cagayan de Oro. Thus, the team decided to introduce itself.
The tournament saw a total of 192 bowlers, including the best bowling veterans from both Taiwan and the Philippines , and the Xavier Team played creditably, assuring themselves of the other players’ respect and admiration.

Moreover, team captain Timothy Ocampo-Tan contended with an injured finger and a bum stomach, but still managed to bowl his highest career game of 256, placing him and Lee in the upper half of the field in the all-events category. The tournament was also a great learning experience for the freshman duo of Carl Matthew Lim and Kurt Yu, as they finally got to experience a national tournament.
Overall, Coaches Sharwin Tee and Aimee Apolinario are happy with the experience as they believe this Cebu trip would help the keglers toughen up for the coming tournaments, which include the 6 th Ateneo Open and the 3 rd Xavier-Loyola Cup.
Meanwhile, the team and the coaching staff extends its heart-felt gratitude to the AAXS Bowling Club, Fr. Johnny Go, S.J., Mr. and Mrs. Carlito Lim, Mrs. Shirley Ting, Bro. Carlo Bacalla, SDB, and the staff of the NS Royal Pensionne for making the team’s trip to Cebu a reality.
