XS Women's Volleyball Team Prevails
Ms. Rachelle de Vera, Registrar's Office Staff and Volleyball Player

Posted Thursday, 27-Oct-2005 3:42 PM

In a match held in the Xavier School High School Gym last October 26, 2005, the Xavier School Faculty and Staff women's volleyball team upset the ladies of La Salle Greenhills, as the Xavier spikers demonstrated their best playing prowess in this year’s Faculty and Staff Athletics Association of Private Schools (FASAAPS).

At the start of the game, the Xavier players served, set, and attacked strongly, making them gain a big lead and eventually ending the initial set with a 25-14 score.

As the game continued to the second set, Coach Mark Yap decided to change the line-up of players. With a fresh set of attackers and receivers, the ladies in green jersey were taken by surprise. Though rallies seemed longer, this final set was finished easily at 25-12.

Beaming, Coach Mark Yap (HS Math) congratulated his girls who all contributed to this fifth victory. Noteworthy are the spikes delivered by Tess Elizalde (HS Administrative Office), Aimee Apolinario (HS Administrative Office), Sarah Ocampo (HS Principal’s Office) and Melanie Yao (HS Math Department). With the accurate reception of Jan Natonton (HS Social Science), Joan Concepcion (HS Computer), Bernadette Leobrera (HS Science) and Ruth Curato (Testing and Research Center), Xavier’s defense went up and about. Moreover, the team also came on strong in the service department courtesy of Retsel Sanggalang (Testing and Research Center) and May Hernandez (HS Math). Finally, Rachelle de Vera (Registrar’s Office) gave her best tosses enabling spikers to pose attacks.

Hoping that the team would be able to maintain such excellent biorhythm, Xavier is in for another chance at the championship title this year. Luceat Lux!
