I’ve always looked forward to books and materials selection activities because is it’s one of the few ways I can get the faculty involved in enriching our collection in the HS-ITC. Thus, when I learned that we can already begin the series of this annual activity, I, together with Ms. Sarah Mendoza and Ms. Noemi Reyes, both from the HS-ITC, and some of the HS middle level administrators, went to different books and audio-visual companies to select ITC resources relevant to the academic and formation needs of the school. June 2005
The books we selected from our first book selection activity
arrived and there were also other audio-visual materials for review from
the different July 2005
The Library Development Committee (LDC), headed by the AP-Academics, Ms. Aimee Apolinario, and Mr. Michael delos Reyes, AP-Formation, met the concerned DCs to finalize recommendations before books and other materials were endorsed for purchase. These books, together with the recommendations made by the LDC, were turned over to the principal for approval. Before the end of the month, we were able to display 50 books for circulation. On the third day of the first quarterly exam this school
year, we decided On the last day of August, nine (9) administrators from the HS unit went to the 26 th Book Fair held at the World Trade Center . Most of them got exhausted because one day didn’t seem enough to really see everything that the fair had to offer. I suspect that some of them went on their own free time after that visit. As a result of this activity, we were able to choose more materials to be reviewed. We anticipated the arrival of the books and materials we selected with excitement. September 2005
It was the first day of the “ber month” when Ms. Yolly Reyes,
HS Chinese Department Chairperson and Fr. Zhang, S.J., our new Chinese
We also displayed around 100 books on careers, education, study habits, science, reading, etc. To date, the ITC has been able to add 300 English and Filipiniana books, 41 Chinese books, 11 audio-visual materials, and 20 manipulatives for Science and Math. Furthermore, we are still processing 50 books. We hope that through these resources, will be able to promote reading among our students and to better support the school in achieving its goals.
