COMMUNITIES

Odds and Ends of Xavier

Gary . Je. Jerome. James. Kip. Zsa Zsa. These men and women are among the newbies in the Xavier Community, yet only a few know them. They’re not in the classrooms everyday, they’re not in the workrooms most of the time, and they are not in the usual places in campus where formators and teachers are seen. Yet, in their very own offices and nooks in school, they have been serving the community in many ways since they got employed. Thus, it is just but right to give them the proper welcome and recognition especially during this Appreciation Day season.

Meet Gary. This Xavier Alumnus is now his alma mater’s Public Relations Consultant. Yes. Xavier has one! He has been mainly responsible in coordinating and supervising projects and activities related to the preparations for the Golden Jubilee. His office is located at the 3rd floor of the MPC. However, given the nature of his job, he’s also out most of the time doing lots and lots of legwork! profile and message

Meet Je. She is with the Faculty and Staff Development Office, and because her job entails little contact with students, very few Xaverians know her. However, she has been of great help to Dr. Angel Antonio in ensuring that teachers and staff get the best training possible to equip them even more for classroom training and student formation. profile and message

Meet Jerome. He doesn’t visit the campus everyday and only the High School Glee Club as well as Mrs. Fides Abad, HS Student Activities Coordinator, can say that they know him. Nevertheless, he has helped make masses in school more beautiful through the music that he and the Glee Club provides. profile and message

Meet James. Being a computer lab assistant, James is more known to the computer enthusiasts of the High School. He is easily recognized as the big gentle guy at the HS PC Lab. During students’ break time, he gets to interact with students in addressing their computer needs and during his free time, when the PC Lab is closed, he would be found helping out in the HS-ITC. profile and message

Meet Kip. He is the moderator of the Xavier Debate Team. Unknown to many, he has brought debating to another level this year and he has led the members of his club to bring home victories that have made Xavier really proud. Like Jerome, Kip doesn’t stay in Xavier 5 days in a week. Nevertheless he has shown much dedication to his tasks. profile and message

Meet Zsa Zsa . Zsa Zsa was tapped this school year to become the Business Manager for the newly erected Fr. Rafael Cortina Sports Center. While it may seem that there is not much work involved, the responsibility entrusted to her is actually big. She attends to EVERY Sports Center matter -- assessing concessionaires, monitoring Athletics requirements, marketing the facilities, and even securing the needed permits from the Municipal Hall! At the moment she is temporarily holding office at the Administrative building, but when the sports center becomes fully operational, she will transfer to her new office. profile and message

I am glad to be back in Xavier School . This is the second time around for me to return to Xavier after graduating in ‘79, having been an English Instructor for the High School in the mid-eighties. After opting for early retirement from the company I worked for last April, this opportunity came my way and not two weeks later, I started my consultancy with Xavier. The prospect of working with the faculty, parents and fellow alumni pleases me no end and the chance to serve the interests of my alma mater is both a meaningful endeavor and welcome challenge. I look forward to the enthusiastic cooperation of all for a successful celebration of Xavier’s Golden Jubilee!
