  XAVERIAN'S CORNER

Cerebrawl Winners
Mrs. Theresa Nebres-Ladrido, HS English Department Chairperson

Last Saturday, February 11, Xavier School participated in Cerebrawl: The Inter Secondary School Academic Challenge organized by the University of the Philippines Junior Finance Association.

Ninenteen schools joined the said contest and Xavier Team A won third place. This team was composed of Gabriel Ruaro (H3A), Theodore Effan (H3C), and Thompson Tang (H3D). Incidentally, they shared the 3 rd place with Ateneo de Manila University.

The contest had three elimination rounds: the easy, the average and the difficult rounds, where questions on Math, Science, Literature and the Arts, History and General Knowledge were asked. During the last round, the difficult round, only the top four schools with the highest scores would be able to compete. Xavier School tied with the Ateneo High School in the third place, losing to Valenzuela Science High School and Chang Kai Shek who won second and first place respectively.

The Cerebrawl has indeed taught the Xavier boys the value of knowledge and teamwork. Winning the contest did not only give these boys pride and honor, but it also provided them with an experience that enabled them to truly let their light shine.
