Keglers Dive into New Challenges
Mr. Sharwin Tee, Bowling Coach

Posted Wednesday, 01-Mar-2006 2:44 PM

Recently, four members of the Xavier Bowling Team received invitations which again brought honor to the school. Michael Olivan of H3B, Carl Lim of H1C and Joseph Potian of H1E all received and accepted invitations to join the national youth developmental pool after impressing the national team coaches in a 4-day tryout. The three bowlers are the latest Xaverians to join the country’s development pool.

Former team captains Casey Yu and Brian Chong also joined the pool previously. The development pool trains every weekend at 1PM and development pool members who impress coaches have the opportunity to be elevated to the National Youth Pool, who represent the country in youth tournaments abroad.

Meanwhile, J. Em Ang of H3D, who has been a member of the National Youth Pool for over a year now, received and accepted an invitation to join the National Men’s Pool. He now joins SEA Games Gold medalist, Markwin Tee, former Xavier bowling team captain, in almost daily scoring elimination sessions to vie for a slot to the Asian Games in Doha, Qatar slated for late this year.

To the four Xavier bowlers, the invitation to play for the country is undoubtedly an honor, not only for them, but also for Xavier. Certainly, the school is very proud of them.
