ALUMNI

Benita Ngo: Outstanding Teacher & Mother
Jonathan Yap (XS'94)

Posted Friday, 10-Feb-2006 12:15 PM

Ms. Benita Ngo is the loving and caring mother of four Xavier alumni: Hector Ngo ('82), Hilton Ngo ('85), Heinrich Ngo ('89), and Homer Ngo ('90). She started teaching Chinese for the High School Department in Xavier School in back in SY 1990-1991. She then went on to become the class adviser of H4-A Class of 1994 for 3 straight years, from SY 1991-1992 (H2A), SY 1992-1993 (H3A), and SY 1993-1994 (H4A). After which she had stints in the Registrar's Office, Purchasing Office and her involvement with the Grade School Chinese Studies Program in various capacities.

Incidentally, for most of Xaverians February 14 is Valentines Day.  But for H4-A, it is the birthday of Mrs. Benita Ngo. To date, H4-A Class of 1994 has been celebrating their class reunion and birthday bash for Mrs. Benita Ngo every February since 1994 without remiss.  This year's reunion is slated to be on February 18, 2006 at the Super Bowl of China in  Tomas Morato, which is franchised by no less than Flexboard Basketball Team Owner and XABL 2003 MVP Royd Sherman Tan ('94) who also belongs to H4-A Class of 1994.

Under her tutelage and guidance, former Xavier Alumni Times
Editor-in-Chief Ryan Anthony Lim Siy ('94), won a Xavier Award and 2
Magis Awards which was an accomplishment of sorts for the overachieving
class.  Mrs. Benita Ngo has also stood as sponsor/godmother in at least
3 of her former students' wedding in the past few years: Van William Co
in 2002, Royd Tan and Ryan Siy in 2004.

To this day, Mrs. Ngo continues to be a mother, an inspiration and a
mentor to a lot of her former students.

Congratulations to Mrs. Benita Ngo, Chairperson of the GS Chinese Department, for being one of the recepients of the Most Outstanding Chinese Teacher Award for School Year 2006-2006.  KAMPAI!
