Inter-rock-tion Rocks!

Xavier juniors and Immaculate Conception Academy (ICA) sophomores had their interaction last January 7, 2006 at the recently renovated Corinthian Gardens clubhouse.

This year’s social gathering for the Xaverians and ICAns was dubbed the “Inter-rock-tion,” which encouraged the participants to come in their rock outfits. Consequently, groups were named after famous rock artists or bands such as Kiss, U2, Ozzy Osbourne, Bee Gees and Police, among others.

“The activity was a success. More than the students interacting with the opposite sex, the cooperation in making this activity successful was clearly seen,” said Jonn Dy, the Xavier Junior Batch Representative and overall officer-in-charge for Xavier. The parents who oversaw the interaction agreed.

Games included “Around the World,” where one person would introduce himself or herself to the person in front of him/her. This was immediately followed by “Paint Me a Picture,” where each group posed for a still shots of a particular subjects, like scenes from a wrestling event and a wedding ceremony.

After dinner was served, everyone gathered in the disco area where several bands from both schools showcased their talents. Performers included Checkpoint, Popoy Avenue and Cappuccino. The participants danced the night away with brilliant steps and flashy moves.

Awards were given to best-dressed facilitators, best facilitators, early birds, best dancers and best-dressed participants.

One would initially think that the one hour delay in the program would result to boredom and impatience, but such delayed turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Though the activity started late, it gave the participants more time to introduce themselves to one another.

The interaction was sponsored by the parents of the sophomore ICAns, in cooperation with the Xavier School Parents’ Auxiliary (XSPA) and student leaders from both batches.
