LIT: Elements of Literature

     The third year English advanced class of Ms. Barbara Magallona exclusively released LIT, its first literary magazine, on January 25, 2006.

     According to Ms. Magallona, it is the first time an English advanced class has compiled portfolio entries in an anthology project.

     Since the first quarter, Ms. Magallona has already thought of producing a compilation of all written works.

     When asked why she considered such an idea for a project, she reveals, “This class project will preserve the boys’ creativity—from prose and poetry to jokes—at this age.”

     Apart from the usual collection of works, LIT also features the four elements as its central and unifying theme. The elements, namely water, fire, wind, earth, represent and encompass the topics of all the students’ portfolio entries.

     In connection, Ms. Magallona even complimented the “good use of themes—the four elements and the commendable incorporation of the themes to the portfolio entries’ topics”.

     “I thought it would be good for the boys to keep their works and those of their classmates’. They might want to remember a time when they were able to write and create in the way they do now,” emphasized Ms. Magallona.

     Finally, pioneering this breakthrough, the third year English advanced class students hope to serve as an example to future batches through LIT—through understanding the elements of literature.
