Due to the overwhelming support of the entire Xavier community, sales from the major Jubilee projects and memorabilia have so far raised P500K for the benefit of the Xavier School Educational & Trust Fund (XSETF). The initial proceeds were formally turned over on January 5, 2006 by the Jubilee Committee led by outgoing Jubilee Chair, Hero Yu (’72) and Vivian Go (Memorabilia Committee Chair) to Greg Yu (’75) XSETF Ways & Means Committee Chair and witnessed by Fr. Johnny Go , S.J. and Fr. Ismael Zuloaga, S.J. (incoming Jubilee Chair). Sales leading up to the Christmas break was brisk, led by the Jubilee Wine, a popular Christmas gift item. Supported by pre-launch marketing to parents, a well-attended launch event and the active selling by the Memorabilia Committee, particularly through selling booths during the Homecoming and the Wish Bazaar, around 4000 bottles have been sold to date. Another popular item is the book of Fr. Santos Mena, Luceat Lux . In a period of just over 6 weeks, the book was sold out. Excellent word-of-mouth reviews on the book generated strong interest among both faculty and alumni who couldn’t wait to read and own their personal copies of this historical account of Xavier School ’s exciting first decade. Also, thanks in large part to the generous patronage of the XSPA and AAXS, the entire stock of the 2-year Jubilee Desk Calendar was depleted. Very popular too were the souvenir items produced by the Memorabilia Committee, particularly the pins, t-shirts, umbrellas and Hoofie stuffed toys. The initial amount raised will surely be a boost to the Golden Choice 5-year campaign of raising an additional P100 million for the XSETF by 2006. The expected full realization of Fr. Jean Desautels’ scholarship fund drive will be a fitting tribute to the school founder during this Golden Jubilee. The success of these Jubilee projects is a strong indication of the growing interest and involvement of the community and bodes well for the future success of the rest of the projects calendared for the upcoming Jubilee Year.
