Another XAVERIAN Joins the JESUITS

Xavier School is proving to be fertile grounds for Jesuits.  In a singular blessing for the Jubilee, another Xaverian, Harvey Mateo (’91) is entering the novitiate at the end of May.  He is a medical doctor specializing in Geriatrics and had been practicing in Texas when he came home to discern his vocation. He joins six other Xaverians who are Jesuits. Four of them have been ordained priests, while two are still in formation.

In photo, left to right:

Fr. ARISTOTLE DY, SJ (`89): Father Ari entered the Jesuit novitiate in 1993 and was ordained in 2004. He is currently the Director of Jesuit Communications Foundation, and is the author of several books and is currently working on the Xavier Jubilee Book, “Our Pride and Glory.”

Fr. JOHNNY GO, SJ (`79): Father Johnny joined the Jesuits in 1987 and was ordained priest on 18 April 1998. He is now the Director of Xavier School.

Schol. TERENCE ANG, SJ (`96):  Brother Terence has just completed his studies in Philosophy at the Ateneo de Manila University, and has been assigned to teach Chinese to high school students in Xavier School for his two-year regency.

Fr. DANIEL PATRICK HUANG, SJ (`76): The first Xaverian to be ordained a Jesuit priest, Father Danny is now the Provincial Superior of Philippine Province of the Society of Jesus.  He entered the Jesuit novitiate in 1980 and was ordained priest on 25 May 1988.

Fr. PETER POJOL, SJ (`85): Father Peter was ordained a priest in April 2002. He joined the Jesuits back in 1991. Fr. Pojol is now in Weston Jesuit Theologate in Boston finishing his doctorate in moral theology.

Marc Aristotle de Asis (’99) who is a Novice of the Upper Canada Province of the Society of Jesus will be pronouncing his vows on August 19, 2006.

Please pray that the Lord will send the Xavier Community more Jesuit vocations especially as we celebrate the Golden Jubilee.

If you feel that the Lord is calling you to be a Jesuit, contact the Jesuit Vocation Director at the Ateneo de Manila University (Tel. 426-6101, email:
