HIGHLIGHTS Successful Book Launching Brian Ong (H4B), Stallion News Editor Posted Tuesday, 28-Mar-2006 2:41 PM
Fr. Johnny Go , SJ (XS’79), Xavier School Director, launched his new book The Parable of the Elder Brother, illustrated by Mr. Joseph Gotinga (XS’94), last Friday, March 17, 2006, at the Xavier Multipurpose Hall (MPH). Fr. Go’s new book adds to the inspirational children’s books made by Xaverians published by the Jesuit Communications. The first was The Greatest King written by Mike Onghai (XS’91) and illustrated by Jerry Yu Ching (XS’87). Following the singing of the National Anthem and the invocation by Fr. Art Borja, Fr. Ari Dy (XS’89), JesCom Director, introduced the book by presenting a short flash video presentation of the book. He later called on the author of the newly published book. Fr. Go then took the stage. Jesting that his book “was not inspired by (popular primetime TV show) Pinoy Big Brother (of ABS-CBN),” Fr. Go successfully set the mood of the event. He proceeded to thank all the people who have contributed to the success of this endeavor. He specially mentioned the book’s illustrator, Mr. Joseph Gotinga who incidentally works for the Director’s Office, his former teachers in English and writing the late Fr. Cornelius Pineau, S.J., and Dr. Doreen Fernandez from the Ateneo, his sister Rosita, and his Grade 3 CLE teacher Mrs. Lulu Domingo, who were his first teachers in the Faith. The guests were then treated to some cocktail and snacks, while they wait for their turn to have their copy of the book autographed by Fr. Go. Among those in attendance in the book launching were Jesuits: Fr. Ismael Zuloaga, Fr. Santos Mena, Fr. Aristotle Dy, JesCom Director, Fr. Art Borja, Fr. Guy Guibelondo, XS Chaplain, Fr. Cesar Marin, MTQ Parish Priest, Bro. Robbie Sian, Bro Aldrie Lim, Bro. Joseph Haw, and Bro. Terrence Ang(XS’96). Other alumni who supported the event were Mr. Jeffrey Siy, AAXS President and Mr. Ramon Go, XSPA Chairman. The book retails at Php.180.00 and is now available at any of the Tanging Yaman stores at the JesCom office-Sonolux Bldg. and Loyola House of Studies, 5/F SM Megamall, GateWay Mall-2/F Concourse Area and all leading bookstores nationwide.
