XAVERIAN'S
CORNER
Wilhansen Li and Rodrick Tan of 4A, together with Levi Tan Ong of 4B, impressed everyone in the High School Information Technology Quiz Bee last, February 18, 20006 at Chiang Kai Shek College.
There were 10 participating schools with 3 representatives each. The competition was divided into 3 rounds starting off with the individual online test eliminations. Only the top 10 students out of the 30 qualified to the Semi Final Round.
While the students were answering the online test on one of the rooms, coaches were able to see the score update of each the contestants.
The three Xaverians qualified to the next round. Wilhansen was declared the topnotcher, having an outstanding score of 43 out of 50. Rodrick was not far behind garnering 40 points making him the second top scorer while Levi got 37 points placing him on the top four.
The Semi Final Round was a tactical round since they would be competing against each other. The last 2 contestants will be the ones who will move on to the Final round. Wilhansen was the first contestant called and he was given the chance to select his competitor. In this round, he was able to eliminate three contestants. Then, he was given the option to pass or continue playing.
Levi was the next in line and was also able to eliminate the remaining players. Only Wilhansen, Rodrick and Levi, all Xaverians, were left. The option to either pass or play was also given to Levi. He decided to pass resulting to a head to head competition between Wilhansen and Rodrick. Wilhansen was the one qualified for the finals.
During the Final Round Levi and Wilhansen were given 30 questions. Whoever gets a higher score will win the competition. At the end of the final round, Wilhansen and Levi got the same scores so they had to undergo a tie breaker.
Wilhansen was declared the winner, Levi was the 2nd placer and Rodrick got the 3rd spot. They were recognized byt the HS community during the assembly last February 28, 2006.
