XAVERIAN'S
CORNER
I’m sure all of you have once wondered… Who are teachers? Where did they come from? Do they have friends and have fun? Where do they go after dark? For crying out loud, are they even human???! The answer: Of course! They have parents and siblings just like us and are surely human. Many teachers joke around, have coffee with their friends at Starbucks, exercise, and have fun. I’m sure you’ve spotted one of your Chinese teachers playing basketball, or an English teacher at Ash Creek Center. They joke around (especially the Grade 7 teachers) and like “bullying students”, just like all of us. Here are a few instances… They have YM! --Marquis Tan (Gr. 7-F) I saw Mrs. Lugapo shopping in Podium! --Josh Lam (Gr. 7-G) I saw some teachers singing and dancing ! --a grade 6 student They say and know what students like, like movies. --Marty Go (Grade 7-G) They jog, exercise, make jokes and have fun. Some teachers watched Harry Potter on the first week! --Christopher Dee (Grade 7-G) I saw Mr. Ching with his girlfriend… --Kevin Garcia (Grade 7-G) Some teachers play sports like volleyball, basketball, and the like. --a grade 7 student
You’ve now seen how teachers are from the point of view of students. Now, take a look at some interesting retorts from the teachers themselves! Of course we are human! We encounter problems, feel tired, commit mistakes, feel disappointed (especially when students don’t do as good as expected) and have mood swings, just like normal people! We also enjoy movies, eating, partying and almost any sport. --Mr. Aude and Ms. Permelona of Grade 7 Yes, we are human because we have fun, watch movies and love shopping in the mall. Outside the classroom, we try to be friends with our students but still demand professionalism and respect. We have gimmicks—whatever you can think of. We play with the students especially in scouting activities and some of us study while working, too. --Ms. Andrade of Grade 2 Yes, we are human! We get hurt when we get mad at students. We get affected when students fail. We also have our own lives outside of school. --Ms. Diaz of Grade 5 So the next time you see a teacher, smile and say hello because you see… teachers ARE human too, just like me and you!
