Last Friday, March 3, 2006 , the sophomores showcased their talents in acting and in effects at the annual Sophomore Science Body Works Contest.

Winning the H2 Science Body Works were H2E’s Circulatory System from the H2EFGH block and H2AB’s Skeletal System from the H2ABCD block. Jake Ejercito, H2E and Nico Ibaviosa, H2B directed the plays respectively.

H2E’s Circulatory System talked about two blood cells named Roody and Pepito who traveled around the body to supply blood to the different organs. Meanwhile, H2AB’s Skeletal System was about Lolo Gabaldon sharing to his grandchildren about his experiences as a vigorous basketball player who broke his bones.

Each class had to present creatively how each body system worked. Their respective Science teachers assigned these systems to each class beforehand. Given the five-week period of preparation, as what Mr Romnick Cajigal, a biology teacher said, “Students prepared stage effects, lines to memorize and the props to enhance their respective plays.”

What is the secret to winning? Redmond Lim of the winning H2AB stated, “A long time of planning (was needed). But if you’re on stage, just have fun to be able to win.”

While the H2ABCD block had their competition from 10:35 – 12:15, the H2EFGH had it from 1:15 – 2:5 . This event was part of the weeklong activities prepared by the HS Science Department.

The winners were announced during the General Assembly held last March 7, 2006, by Mrs. Michelle Albano, Science Teacher. The HS Principal, Mrs Jane Cacacho, assisted by the HS Assistant Principal for Academics, Ms. Aimee Apolinario, awarded the said winners.
