HIGHLIGHTS

Ashes and Prayers
Ms. Aimee Apolinario, HS Web Editor

Posted Monday, 06-Mar-2006 2:52 PM

March 1, 2006 was Ash Wednesday and it marked the beginning of Lent. As a fitting preparation for this season, a mass was celebrated at the High School Gym.

Fr. Guy Guibelondo, S.J., Campus Minister, celebrated the mass. In his homily, he emphasized the importance of fasting, alms giving, and prayer especially during the Lenten season.

The solemn blessing and imposition of ashes followed the homily.

During the offertory a special collection was made for the benefit of victims of the recent tragedy in Leyte . In response to the call for charity, the High School was able to raise over Php 30,000 from the said collection. This amount will be included in Xavier Project DOTA: Donate to Aid.

Moreover, a special blessing was given to the graduating batch. The Ash Wednesday mass happened to be their final mass with the whole high school student body. Fr. Guy requested everyone to extend their hand over the Seniors whose heads were bowed. A prayer was offered for the H4 students as they embark on the next stage of their lives.
