Forever Seems Only Further

How often could one find music that somewhat truly captured one's eelings? Only a few musical artists could touch a person's heart and make one cry inside one way or another. Chris Carrabba, whose solo career is more popularly known as “Dashboard Confessional,” has been one of the artists whose careers are rapidly rising in the music scene these past few years because of his deeply, heart-felt lyrics and his emo-acoustic type of music. By Gilbert Go, H4E

H4 Special Alternate Projects
As early as the start of the 3rd quarter, Ms. Jessica Junio, the H4 computer teacher, appointed Michael Cu, H4B's class president, to head one of the biggest projects of the class this year: an IT Quiz bee for freshmen students. By selected H4 students

Bagged with Compassion

Way before the immersion, I was already very excited for it. I was already trying to picture myself bagging groceries at SM. I couldn't wait for the immersion to come. The orientation, apart from adding to the excitement, tantalized me because I would still have to wait for two weeks before the immersion. By Carlos Locsin, H4B

Death of Classical Music
Classical music used to dominate all forms of culture; it was alive, vibrant, and very worthwhile, but now, it has shifted into reverse, especially in the eyes and ears of the new generation. Accordingly, the youth of today no longer favors classical music because it is simply too old, too serious, and thus boring for them. By Michael Cu, H4B

Last Few Drops

Water, the life-giving element that surrounds almost seventy five percent of the earth, is silently crying out for help to us for it is currently dying. Not anymore is the earth beautiful and majestic with its crystal clear waters like before. Humans have transformed it into a polluted and hideous place filled with pitch black rivers and lakes. By Daryl Uykieng, H4B

Waves of Sorrow

In the recent large-scale earthquake occurring at the bottom of the ocean last December 26, 2004, a tsunami caused more than two hundred and seventy thousand lives to be lost and more missing in Southern Asian countries. The hardest hit were Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Maldives and Thailand. By Aldo Tong, H4B

The Phantom of the Opera
Andrew Lloyd Webber's most classic theatrical musical has finally gotten the cinematic treatment in the Joel Schumacher ( Phone Booth , Tigerland ) film, The Phantom of the Opera . With the current surging onset of musicals, from the Oscar-nominated Moulin Rouge , and the Oscar-winning Chicago , never has the time been perfect for the renowned composer to unleash his beloved play onto the silver screen. By Carlo Chong (H2B), Stallion Features Writer

A Crusader's Pilgrimage to Heaven

We were all excited as we boarded the bus heading for our pilgrimage to Tagaytay. The teachers had a hard time keeping us quiet. The noise died down after we boarded. To start off, the teachers told us to pray the Rosary before leaving. It's the best way to start our pilgrimage. By Aris Amor, Grade 4 Eucharistic Crusader
Xavier Songwriter's are "In the Light Once More"

In the beginning of the school year, one of the concerns of some members was that although they could write beautiful lyrics and melodies, they were not exceptional performers. To assuage the members' fears, it was emphasized that songwriting is an art form in itself and that it was perfectly acceptable for them to call on others to interpret their composition.

Labors of Love Made by Little Hands
In this time of email, YM and ecards, who would bother making Valentine cards? Nursery students do! Look at these thoughtful cards they made for the" loves" of their life - Mommy and Daddy. By selected Nursery students

Not Just Your Average Doll-Kitchie Nadal

Meet the next hottest star in the local music industry! People simply get hyper when Kitchie Nadal sets foot on the stage. By Brian Ong

I Need You from the Xavier Songwriters' Guild
The Xavier Songwriters' Guild is a newly organized club which aims to develop in students the art of songwriting. One of its sessions this year focused on the importance of a song's melody. The concept of “hook” in a song was discussed, and the club members seem to have captured that stuck-in-my-head element in their original song I Need You.

An Invitation from Stage FX

In a brutal ancient China, behind the walls of the Forbidden City, unfolds a tale of love and tragedy, woven around the frozen heart of a cruel princess named Turandot. Stage FX cordially invites you to its newest play, "Turandot", written by our very own Xavier students:  Lyricists Walther Hontiveros and TJ Simeon, Composer Marvin Ong and Scriptwriter Carl Ventura. By Kenneth Yu (H3A)

Seniors Respond to the Challenge
Last January 10, 2005, representatives from Amnesty International came to Xavier School and conducted a two period session with the H4 English Advanced class students.

Youth Once United (YOU), Rule!
"The youth of today holds the future", sounds familiar? Many successful people have used this quote in their speeches, from heroes and leaders, to our teachers in school. Although some people may say this simple quotation is all too common, we can say that it is not a cliché. By Kurt Lim, G6A

Eternal Gratitude
Blind, that was what I was before. Specifically, I was blinded by selfish dreams, earthly desires and self-pleasuring desires. Alas, I lived a life struggling with myself. Also my life was filled with darkness and shadowy pasts, and the miserable truth was I barely fought it. How foolish I was to live such a life, a life only for myself. Was this the source of this emptiness I used to feel? Obviously the school answer to this life crisis would be to change. By Jason Tan (H2D), Stallion Graphic Designer

A New Chronicle of History: The Iraq War
More than ten thousand people were killed. Thousands of lives shattered but the United States of America never hindered themselves from attacking a very little country in the Middle East . Some people say that Bush wanted vengeance since the US lost in the 1990 Gulf War but others claim that the US wanted to emblazon their power to the whole world. By Erwin Yap (H3C), Stallion Literary Writer

Corregidor: Another One of Those Field Trips
I was lucky enough to get the second shift. Joining the first group means waking up at 5:00 am sharp, get dress and finish all with little time to spare. I must already leave the house by 5:30 the most to arrive just in the time for the departure of the bus from Xavier. That is yet without taking the morning bath. By Nicholas Alvin Tan (H3C), Stallion Features Writer

By Zarah Grace Calimag-Gagatiga, GS Web Editor

One of the most anticipated movies of the year, 'Alexander' is a strikingly valiant attempt at telling the story of one of history's most revered icons. With mind-blowing visuals, and commanding direction by Academy Award-winner Oliver Stone, the film holds true to its tagline, "Fortune favors the bold." By Carlo Chong (H2B)

Wala Tayong PasOK, Sila Walang PasKO
Last Friday evening, after spending most of the day handwriting my Creative Synthesis, copying the draft I made on the computer, I decided to take a break. No, not by eating a bar of KitKat, I decided to eat something better, a slice of a ten inch Manhattan Meat Lovers pizza from Yellow Cab, complete with salami, ham, lean beef and smothered with cheese. Not only that, I was also eating a slice of a fourteen inch New York Classic with lots of pepperoni and smothered with even more cheese. By Carlos Locsin (H4B), HS SC President

Learning Life's Lessons
There are subjects in school that I really like, and ones that I find unlikable. There is one particular subject that from the start, I found irrelevant. I didn't take it seriously. I took it for granted. To me, it was somewhat useless. By Anthony Perez, G7F

Remembering the Days
The path towards high school is not an easy one for most Grade 7 students. Going to high school is similar to embarking on a journey where everything seems uncertain and fraught with challenges and obstacles. However, once you arrive at your destination, everything seems clear and falls into place.   By Trevor Chan (7G), Graphic Design Editor, Hoofprint Online

Sky Captain and World of Tomorrow saves the day but destroys it too
In a world filled with hatred and loath, Hollywood seeks to bring its audience out of the gloom and into a world where the good triumph and the evil are defeated. "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow" is no exception to this, relying on old fashioned techniques and revolutionary visual effects to carry this fairly simple rehash. By Carlo Chong (H2B), Stallion Features Writer
